Reading the Green
How have I Evolved Professionally?
My time spent at the Eller College of Management, and this semester specifically has been a journey of self-discovery and professional growth. I’ve deepened my understanding of my core values, refined my communication skills, and learned how to navigate team dynamics with confidence. Each experience, from core values exploration to building a professional persona video, has contributed to a clearer sense of who I am and what I offer as a future business in sports professional. This page showcases my evolution, highlighting the insights and skills I’ve gained that are shaping my professional identity.
Exploring my core values has been a cornerstone of my personal and professional development. High energy, creativity, and a strong work ethic are central to who I am, as they drive the way I approach every opportunity. For instance, my high energy allows me to bring enthusiasm and positivity to group settings, motivating others to stay engaged and collaborative. My creativity shines through in how I approach challenges, always seeking new, innovative ways to solve problems or bring ideas to life. My strong work ethic ensures that I follow through on every commitment with dedication. Together, these values have shaped my reputation as someone who is both passionate and reliable, always ready to go the extra mile.

When I first began analyzing my communication style, I believed I was more reserved and less assertive, someone who preferred to observe before stepping up to lead. However, feedback from my peers revealed that I’m seen as a driven, positive, and leaderlike individual, someone who communicates authentically and inspires others through action. The results placed me closer to a Driver style, aligning with someone who leads with confidence, direction, and initiative.

The light pink dot indicates my emotiveness and assertiveness scores based on surveys taken, whereas the light green dots indicate how my peers view me in a group setting. The golf flag on my chart marks where I truly landed, someone who leads with energy and emotional connection, while maintaining focus and direction. My peers described me as approachable, dependable, and easy to work with, while encouraging me to express myself more fully and showcase my creative leadership potential.
This insight helped me recognize that leadership, much like reading a green, requires both confidence and feel, knowing when to take the shot and when to listen. Just as golfers adjust their swing based on feedback and conditions, I’ve learned to adapt my communication style to the needs of my team. I now step into conversations and opportunities with greater confidence, trusting my instincts and using my voice intentionally to inspire, connect, and motivate others.
Growth Mindset: Playing the Long Game
Golf has taught me that progress doesn’t come from perfection, it comes from persistence. Every missed putt, every slice, and every tough round is just another swing toward improvement. This same mindset shapes how I approach academics and professional growth.
Throughout this semester, I’ve learned to see challenges not as setbacks but as opportunities to refine my “swing.” When a project didn’t go as planned, I analyzed my approach instead of getting discouraged, asking what I could do differently next time. Just like in golf, consistency and reflection matter more than a single score. Developing a growth mindset has helped me embrace feedback, stay patient through learning curves, and celebrate small wins on the path to bigger goals.

Team Culture Findings
While golf can be an individual sport, some of the best moments happen when teamwork takes the lead. Every great round requires trust, communication, and encouragement, the same qualities I’ve found essential in my own collaborative experiences. I’ve discovered that I thrive in environments where everyone brings a unique strength to the table, and success comes from supporting one another through every challenge.

For example, when I served as a Lead for the Eller Expo Career Fair, I worked with students, faculty, and employers to coordinate logistics, manage check-ins, and ensure the event ran smoothly for over 1,300 students and 90 companies. My role required overseeing multiple moving parts while keeping the team motivated, maintaining high energy, and ensuring communication stayed clear across all areas. Much like a strong golf team, our success came from staying adaptable, focused, and positive from the first tee to the final putt.
